Our Client is a multi- national food logistics and facilities provider. They also have a Site Services Division which provides construction of buildings and offices, general facilities management, fuel management, vehicle and plant maintenance services.
They are currently seeking an Assistant Fuel Operations Manager to be based at their fuel compound located at Kandahar Airfield Afghanistan.
Reporting into the Fuel Operations Manager – Kandahar, the role is broad in scope encompassing the day to day responsibility for all aspects of our client’s fuel management operations at Kandahar Airfield. This will include the transporting and storing of fuel, spillage response procedures, emergency disaster planning and response etc. In addition you will monitor all shipments in transit from the refinery to the Kandahar camps. You will liaise with ISAF Member countries personnel, Bulk Fuel Installation personnel, sub contractors and the local refinery.
You should ideally have a military background and have experience in bulk fuel distribution, and all associated operational aspects of bulk fuel storage and distribution.
You should be able to operate testing equipment for checking fuel from basic chemistry principles.
Your knowledge and experience should ideally be supported by having attended courses at The Royal Logistics School of Petroleum based at West Moors, Dorset. England or equivalent.
In addition it is desirable if you posses HAZMAT Operators Licence for Class 1 and 3 vehicles and also hold a Certificate in Health and Safety Management.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence.
This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Fuel Management specialist looking for something different. Whilst our Clients operation is somewhat unique they are in it for the long term and are looking for a minimum of 12 to 18 months commitment.
The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is an annual profit share bonus available which is also paid in US Dollars and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
Accommodation, laundry, local transport, health insurance and meals are provided free. In addition employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and the internet for e-mails etc.
Western Ex-Patriate employees will receive 63 days annual leave per year and the work rota is approx 14 weeks on, 3.5 weeks off.
Western Ex-Patriate employees will receive 3 paid return economy flights per year and Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
