Our Client is a multi- national food logistics and facilities provider. Within their Catering Services Division they are seeking a Chef Manager to work in Kabul, Afghanistan to manage a unit feeding a contingent of US military personnel and therefore the successful candidate should be accomplished in cooking American and South American cuisine.

Reporting into a Catering Unit Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day running of the catering operations of the Unit, according to the client contract specifications and within the S.O.Ps laid down by our client.

In addition they will be responsible to maintain the food budget on the target given by our client and will also be responsible for managing all the staff working in the kitchen unit.

Job Requirements:

You should be an energetic and accomplished English speaking Head Chef, Chef Manager or Catering Manager who can ideally speak fluently at least one other European language.

As the role involves managing a kitchen feeding a contingent of US military personnel the successful candidate should be accomplished in cooking American and South American cuisine.

Experience of working in contracted catering services, in a military environment or for a leading international facilities management provider would be ideal, as would experience of working in post conflict areas, remote sites or in other arduous environments.

You will have an excellent understanding of commercial catering operations and specifically a high degree of knowledge on food hygiene including HACCP, food handling and food presentation concepts and knowledge of popular catering and bakery products.

You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.

Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions. Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be PC / IT literate.

This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Head Chef or Catering Manager looking for something different. Whilst our Clients operation is somewhat unique they are in it for the long term and are looking for a minimum of 12 – 18 months commitment.

The basic salary is paid in Euros and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is an annual profit share bonus payable after 12 month’s service which is also paid in Euros and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Accommodation, laundry, local transport, health insurance and meals are provided free. In addition you will have the use of a phone to call family and friends and also the internet for e-mails etc.

Western Ex-Patriate employees will receive 63 days annual leave per year and the working rota is approximately 14 weeks on, 3.5 weeks off

In addition Western Ex-Patriate employees will receive 3 paid return economy flights per year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
