Job Description:
Our Client manages a large food distribution contract from a modern multi-temperature distribution centre located in Kabul, Afghanistan on behalf of one of the countries who is participating in ISAF, the multi-national peacekeeping force in Afghanistan.
They are currently seeking an accomplished Dispatch Manager. This is a senior warehouse management role, broad in scope, running a cost effective food warehouse operation.
Reporting into the Operations Manager you will manage the Dispatch department’s activities ensuring that all items for delivery to each customer scheduled for loading and dispatching for the day are accomplished and done according to the established SOPs.
You will send delivery notifications to customer service department and will answer queries from customers regarding delivery issues, details and whereabouts.
You will check in WMS (Warehouse Management System software) all ordered SKUs the status whether loaded and shipped and will co-ordinate with the Transport Department the load - truck requirements and schedule of local and provincial trips daily.
You will ensure the dispatching of food products are within set timeframes whilst maintaining agreed levels of accuracy.
You will monitor and review working practices to maximize performance and productivity and will work with all team members to ensure that corporate goals are consistently achieved and maintained.
Finally you will ensure that all activities under your control are carried out in accordance with our clients Environmental, Health & Safety policy.
As in any successful management position, the development and motivation of the team around you is essential, as is the ongoing strengthening of customer relationships.
Job Requirements:
To meet this unique challenge, you will ideally be an ambitious warehouse dispatch professional with your dispatch, warehousing and inventory management experience ideally gained in an fmcg environment. With outstanding leadership ability and a strong customer focus, you will have the confidence to win credibility and make an immediate contribution.
You should be familiar with computer based stock and WMS systems (ideally Exceed) with RF screening experience and be an experienced PC user familiar with MS Office, e mail and the Internet.
Experience of MRP and knowledge of contemporary ERP systems such as JDE, SAP is desirable.
In addition you should have a working knowledge of HACCAP and ISO 9000 standards. A military background would be very useful.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions. Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence.
This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Dispatch Manager looking for something different. Whilst our Clients operation is somewhat unique they are in it for the long term and are looking for a minimum of 18 to 24 month’s commitment.
The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is an annual profit share bonus payable which is also paid in US Dollars and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
Accommodation, laundry, local transport, health insurance and meals are provided free. In addition employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and the internet for e-mails etc.
Western Ex-Patriate employees will receive 63 days annual leave per year and the working rota is approx 14 weeks on, 3.5 weeks off.
Western Ex-Patriate employees will receive 3 paid return economy flights per year and Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
