917 - Contracts Manager

Job Location: Iraq - Basrah International Airport, Iraq

Job Description:

Our client is a privately owned air charter and logistics company. They operate a fleet of aircraft (both passenger and cargo) and helicopters operating throughout The Middle East, Europe, Africa and near Asia.


They are currently seeking a Contracts Manager to be based at Basrah International Airport, Southern Iraq.


This a key position within our clients business. The successful candidate will be tasked with the day to day responsibility of managing all aspects of both pre-award and post-award international contracting and subcontracting activities with our clients customers and own staff.


The successful candidate will advise colleagues on contract management and policy compliance matters, provide direction for interpretation and application of conditions, remedies, indemnities, liabilities, and contract terms.


You will serve as the subject matter expert on international contracts and subcontract agreements and will provide advice on complex requirements of the Requests for Proposals, contracts, and subcontracts, and provide continual review to ensure that all terms and conditions are met while identifying areas of risk.


You will provide contractual guidance to business team members for appropriate Statement of Work and you will manage contract change control process.


You will draft, negotiate and finalize contract and subcontract documents with Contracting Officers and other contracting representatives to ensure consistency with the solicitation and proposal.


You will prepare and disseminate information regarding contract status, compliance, and modifications and will develop and integrate contract management tools, templates, and processes for the engagement.


Job Requirements:

You will need to be accomplished in Contracts Administration with your experience being supported by a degree in a relevant field such as business administration or program management etc. A professional legal qualification is highly desirable.


To be successful in this role, you require previous experience in Contracts Management and Administration with major defence contractor’s e.g. US DOD and / or experience with complex / high dollar value international contract negotiation together with a working knowledge of service type contracts, DoD contracting, award fee and of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) guidelines.


You will have an advanced understanding of international and commercial contractual instruments and terms and conditions and will understand risk mitigation as it relates to these terms.


You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language, have a strong attention to detail and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.


Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.


Finally you should be PC / IT literate and possess a Drivers Licence.


This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Contracts Manager looking for something different. Whilst our Clients operation is somewhat unique they are in it for the long term and are looking for a minimum of 18 to 24 months commitment.


The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there are uplifts for hazardous conditions and post differentials and there is an annual bonus payable which is also paid in US Dollars and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Accommodation, laundry and medical insurance are provided free. In addition employees receive free meals or a meals allowance, have the use of a phone to call family and friends and also the internet for e-mails etc.


The work rota is 108 days on, 21 days off. Employees will receive one paid return economy flight back to their home base each year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are paid for by our client.
