Job Description:
Founded in 1957, our clients parent Group has over 50 years of experience developing and operating customized supply chain and associated service solutions in demanding environments. Supported by a world-wide network of resources including state – of – the – art warehousing facilities, bulk fuel installations, and real time freight tracking capabilities, our client provides workable resolutions to complex client requirements in the areas of food logistics, catering, retail, site services and fuel management.
Our Client is the Aviation Division of this rapidly expanding group and provides vital services in supply air logistics to remote sites in post conflict locations and remote areas.
They ensure essential items such as fresh food and other time critical cargo is delivered with minimal disruption, under the most challenging conditions.
They are currently seeking a Chief Pilot to be based in Afghanistan.
Reporting into the Operations Controller – Outbound, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development, planning and managing of the operational control of fixed and rotary wing aircraft flights throughout Afghanistan.
You will control all fixed and rotary wing flight operations and will advise the Operations Controller on operational capabilities of aircraft fleet.
You will work with the Assistant Operations Controller and General Manager to develop operational policies and procedures.
You will conduct aircraft crew member training, monitor flight crew procedures and activities, verify and ensure aircraft crew member proficiency, and supervise and mentor air crew.
Finally, you will develop, update, and audit Standard Operating Procedures and manuals as necessary and will brief aircrews on operational and theater specific conditions.
Job Requirements:
You will be an accomplished Pilot and familiar with Soviet aircraft capabilities and controls, e.g., Mil Mi- 8T/Mi-8MTV, Mil Mi26, Kamov KA-32, Illyushin IL-76, Antonov An-26/32, An-24. Experience of having operated in a war / post conflict zone would be ideal.
You will have a detailed comprehension of FAA and ICAO requirements including, but not
limited to: passenger operation, transport of hazardous material, standardization programs, compliance programs, weight and balance, flight plan filing and preparation.
You will have experience in aircraft and airspace deconfliction, A2C2 (Army Airspace
Command and Control) and an understanding of aircraft tactics, techniques, and procedures for: mountain flying and operations, restricted visibility operations, internal
and external load operations, threat reaction and reporting procedures, performance planning, flight safety and crew discipline.
You will have the ability to develop aircrew immersion and local area orientation procedures, knowledge and experience working with AR 95-1(US Army Flight Regulations) AFI 11-202 V3 (USAF Flight Regulations), and NATOPS (Naval/Marine Flight Regulations).
Ideally, you will have been a military trained Flight Safety Officer having carried out one tour as an FSO and have experience in aircraft mishap investigation.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally be able to speak some Russian, able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner, and work to tight deadlines.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities, and religions.
Finally, you should be PC / IT literate and possess a Driver's License.
This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Pilot looking for something different. Whilst our Clients operation is somewhat unique they are in it for the long term and are looking for a minimum of 18 to 24 months commitment.
The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition, there is an annual bonus payable which is also paid in US Dollars and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Accommodation, laundry, local transport, health insurance, and meals are provided free. In addition, employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and also the internet for e-mails, etc.
Western Ex-Patriate employees will receive 63 days annual leave per year and the working rota is approximately 14 weeks on, 3.5 weeks off
Western Ex-Patriate employees will receive 3 paid return economy flights per year and Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
