941 - Retail Director / Dubai

Job Description:

Founded in 1957, our clients parent Group has over 50 years of experience developing and operating customized supply chain and associated service solutions in demanding environments. Supported by a world-wide network of resources including state – of – the – art warehousing facilities, bulk fuel installations and real time freight tracking capabilities, our client provides workable resolutions to complex client requirements in the areas of food logistics, catering, retail, site services and fuel management.






Our client is the Retail Division of this rapidly international FM group and are currently seeking a Retail Director to be based in Dubai to take total responsibility of the Retail Division which currently comprises 24 PX / Retail units based in The Balkans and Afghanistan.


Reporting into a Group Board Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the Division which will include leading the business development, staffing, operations and delivery of retail programs across all regions.


You will be responsible for the P and L of our clients retail business and will deliver operational excellence exceeding customer’s expectations and enhance the strategic capabilities of our client.


You will review the current retail operation and find cost effective and operationally viable options to improve processes, improve efficiencies and grow the business and you will develop a viable strategy for the Retail Division.


You will ensure all retail contracts relating to the retail business unit are in the best interests of our client, financially, ethically and legally.


You will develop and implement sales strategies for the on going development of market share through the attainment of new business and incrementally growing the base business in Afghanistan, The Balkans and Africa.


Key deliverables will be; revenue growth, P and L performance, ROI, budget preparation, identifying operational gaps and opportunities, quality of service including client satisfaction and margin capture and develop, implement and ensure compliance of SOPs.


In addition you must plan for and manage change, prepare an annual marketing plan, ensure customer satisfaction levels are surveyed, analysed and acted upon, measure the effectiveness of staff training and development programs, coach direct reports and identify and develop HR strategies.






Job Requirements:

To meet this unique challenge, you will be an outstanding retail professional with significant retail experience ideally gained in an international recognised retail, fmcg or duty free operation.


Your work experience should be supported by an MBA or Masters from a recognised institution with a degree in retail or business management.


Experience of having worked for companies such as NAAFI, AFFES, DCS etc would be advantageous but not essential. Likewise experience in QSR Area / Regional Management like McDonalds, KFC, Burger King, Subway etc and experience in a Franchise community would be advantageous.


You should have a proven record of direct P & L accountability for a number of retail locations supported by an excellent knowledge of business and management principles, strategic planning and resource allocation.


With outstanding leadership ability and a strong customer focus, you will have the confidence to win credibility and make an immediate contribution.


You will have strong commercial acumen supported by ability to present arguments and influence business decisions.

You should be familiar with retail EPOS, computer based stock and WMS systems and possess a high standard of PC skills (MS Office).


You should also have an appreciation of warehouse and logistics operations.


You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language, be a persuasive negotiator and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.


Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.


You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.


Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence.

The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is a profit sharing bonus earning opportunity which is also paid in US Dollars and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.


In addition a company car is provided or car allowance and a one off relocation allowance is also available, 5 weeks plus public holidays, health insurance and 1 paid return economy flight per year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
