Assistant LAN Manager

Job Location: COMALAPA, El Salvador

Job Description:

Assistant Local Area Network (LAN) Manager .


The Contractor shall provide an Assistant LAN Manager to manage and administer the facilities network to include network server and peripherals, electronic mail server, network architecture, TCPIP, data communications, etc. The Assistant LAN Manager shall obtain a “Top Secret”/Security Clearance. The Contractor will have SCI Facility clearance and shall ensure Assistant LAN Manager has the required SCI facility clearance to work in an SCI environment. The Contractor shall provide documentation, satisfactory to the Contracting Officer within 10 days after contract award, to support the Assistant LAN Manager being Microsoft Network Engineer Certified (MCSE 2003). The Assistant LAN Manager shall have a minimum 5 years of LAN server/network experience with the latest Windows technologies.













Assistant LAN Manager must possess in depth knowledge of network architectures, topologies and IP protocols; knowledge of SNMP, DHCP, DNS/BIND and Unix, CISCO routers, Symantec security products, backup exec, Firewalls, Surf control filter, Events logs administrator, tumbleweed, Office 2003 and 2007, Adobe reader and pro, retina eEye Digital security, Active client software, blackberry services, Windows Security Update Server (WSUS) photo shop, Lumos ADT and all security software approved by the DoD. Services shall include but are not limited to the following:


Implement, Manage and troubleshoot the LANs including:


- Perform system backup.


- Ensure each LAN is up and available during normal working hours.


- Troubleshoots networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.


- Document network problems and resolutions for future reference.


- Repair on a component level and advise others on proper maintenance as required.


- Perform semiannual and annual inventory of LAN hardware and software.


- Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.


- Deter and report unauthorized entry into LAN.


- Maintain security of the LAN.


- Maintain user account.


- Maintain virus protection and firewalls.


- Review and, make recommendations on existing server configurations.


- Review and, make recommendations on procurement of computer, network hardware, peripheral equipment and software.


- Coordinate the procurement and installation of new computer hardware and software.


- Coordinate the installation of software patches and upgrades.


- Train users on LAN operations and provide technical resource support.


- Provide customer desktop support for LAN users. Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions.


- Develops, document and implement system standards and procedures. Monitor to assure user adherence.


- Maintain site licenses.


- Manage retirement and disposal of obsolete or broken equipment.


- Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, store or accessed by the network.


- Design, engineer and install network cabling.


- Engineer and implement equipment reallocations.


- Provide PC interim maintenance.


- Provide interim hardware maintenance review on computer equipment.


- Provide interim system communications assistance.


- Provide comprehensive Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS) support.


- Be responsible for imaging software (JOTS or JWICS operations).


- Provide interim system communications assistance to external network connections.


- Work with associated cryptographic equipment.


Provide web page development and maintenance.
