Job Description:
Helpdesk/LAN Technician,
In addition to supporting LAN Manager and Assistant LAN Manager, the Helpdesk/LAN Technician is responsible for:
- Open and close LAN accounts as required
- Troubleshoot and assist end-user.
- Maintain current Trouble Calls Ledger for historical files/trend analyses.
- Web Page maintenance and upkeep.
- Perform and check backups.
- Update Router IP Block Lists.
- Assist with the upkeep of servers and networks.
- Maintain Windows based desktop and laptop computers to provide optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot LAN, desktop, and printer problems as they occur for minimal downtime.
- Ensure employees are able to access network resources.
- Windows Servers based networks containing Windows clients.
- Implementing security and installing applications using Group Policies.
- Deploy, configure, install, test and maintain network components, e.g., servers, PCs, monitors, keyboards, and printers
- Setup and maintain internet connections.
- Software and Hardware management and support
- Hardware Deployment Specialist
Responsible to prepare all new hire computers

The helpdesk technician shall assist the Assistant LAN Manager and administer the facilities network to include network server and peripherals, electronic mail server, network architecture, TCPIP, data communications, etc. The helpdesk will have Secret clearance and shall ensure A Microsoft Network Engineer Certified (MCSE 2003) is prefered but not required. The helpdesk technician shall have a minimum 5 years of LAN server/network experience with the latest Windows technologies.
The helpdesk technician must possess in depth knowledge of network architectures, topologies and IP protocols; knowledge of SNMP, DHCP, DNS/BIND and Unix, CISCO routers, Symantec security products, backup exec, Firewalls, Surf control filter, Events logs administrator, tumbleweed, Office 2003 and 2007, Adobe reader and pro, retina eEye Digital security, Active client software, blackberry services, Windows Security Update Server (WSUS) photo shop, Lumos ADT and all security software approved by the DoD.
