Supported by a world-wide network of resources including state – of – the – art warehousing facilities, bulk fuel installations and real time freight tracking capabilities, our client provides workable resolutions to complex client requirements in the areas of food logistics, catering, retail, aviation, site services and fuel management.
Our client is the USA Division of this expanding international facilities Group which co-ordinates most of the contracts with their US clients.
They are currently seeking a Financial Accountant for this division to be based in their Regional Service offices in Dubai.
Reporting into the Director of Finance and Administration the primary objective of the role is the management of the overall financial accounting activities for the Business Unit, the effective management of the accounting team and to ensure the integrity and accuracy of all accounting entries with the focus on inter-company transactions, month end closing process, preparation of the balance sheet and the P & L account.
The successful candidate will manage a team of accounting staff to perform all accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash and banking, inventory, fixed assets and credit control activities.
Specifically you will monitor the timing of invoice preparation; overdues and collections efforts and will ensure that stock accounting is performed according to accounting requirements.
You will co-ordinate and manage the month end closing process from a finance/accounting aspect, including review and closing of accounts, building controls to ensure that revenues and expenses are captured accurately and in the correct accounting periods, review and control of monthly accruals and prepayments.
You will continually drive forward improvements in the month end closing schedule and you will be responsible for ensuring that all inter-company transactions are handled appropriately, including meeting regularly with counterparties.
You will finalise month end entries prior to the preparation of financial management reports by the Business Unit Controllers and you will manage the reconciliation of sub-ledger and balance sheet accounts relating to the specific Business Unit.
Finally you will provide technical expertise on accounting issues, liaise with external auditors and be responsible for audit queries and prepare financial statements as per IFRS for the various legal entities.
Job Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Accounting or Business Administration and hold an internationally recognised professional Accounting qualification.
You should be an accomplished Financial Accountant / Controller with some experience in a similar position ideally in an international fm, international product or trading company. Audit experience with a top or middle tier firm is desirable.
In addition you should have knowledge of business process re-engineering, excellent computer knowledge (ORACLE / Financials, OLAP Database and reporting tools) and a high level of analytical skills.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner, work to tight deadlines and pay attention to the detail.
Supported by excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication skills you will able to display solid strategic thinking, data manipulation and financial analytical skills.
In addition you should have a positive, professional and proactive approach and have the essential ability to communicate at all levels and a commitment to develop, both in terms of our clients finance function and on a personal basis.
Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be IT / PC literate particularly in Excel and spreadsheets.
