Our client is the Support Services Division of this expanding international facilities Group which manages the design, construction and operation of sites for clients who need to operate in some of the world’s most challenging environments.


They are currently seeking a French speaking Bakery Manager for this division to be based in Afghanistan.


Reporting into an Operations Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for the production of all types of pastries, breads and cookies as per the location requirements and to practice good housekeeping and personnel hygiene, health and safety / food hygiene.


Managing a team of Bakers and Bakery Assistants you will ensure that all work is carried out as per the contract and client specification.


You and your team will prepare all types of pastry, bakery products and breads as per the
instructions of the Pastry Chef or Chief Cook and ensure smooth supply of products to the kitchen/restaurant.


You will check incoming supplies from stores for quality, quantity, damage and spoilage and you will check the correct storage of goods and that stock rotation procedures are maintained.


Finally you will ensure your team have adequate operating knowledge of various bakery tools and equipment.




Job Requirements:

You should be an energetic and accomplished French speaking Bakery Manager. You should be highly self motivated with the ability to communicate and motivate a varied team. You should have experience of managing a modern bakery and your experience should be supported by vocational bakery qualifications and preferably a food safety qualification.


Experience of working in a retail bakery operation, contracted catering services, in a military environment or for a leading international facilities management provider would be ideal, as would experience of working in post conflict areas, remote sites or in other arduous environments.


You will have an excellent understanding of commercial bakery production operations and specifically a high degree of knowledge on food hygiene including HACCP, food handling and food presentation concepts and knowledge of popular catering and bakery products.


You should possess excellent communication skills in English and French and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner, work to tight deadlines and pay attention to the detail.


Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.


You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.


Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be IT / PC literate.


This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished French Speaking Bakery Manager looking for something different.


The basic salary is paid in Euros and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is an annual bonus payable after 12 month’s service which is also paid in Euros and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Accommodation, laundry, local transport, health insurance, permanent disability and death benefit, bereavement leave and meals are all provided free. In addition you will have the use of a phone to call family and friends and also use of the internet for e-mails etc.


Ex-Patriate employees will receive 63 days annual leave per year and the working rota is approximately 14 weeks on, 3.5 weeks off


In addition Ex-Patriate employees will receive 3 paid return economy flights per year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
