1035 - Fuels QA Officer

Job Description:

Our Client is the Fuels Trading Division and they provide vital services in fuel management and supply both to the military and private companies operating in post conflict and remote areas. They are currently seeking a Fuels QA Officer to be based at Kandahar Air Field, Afghanistan. Reporting into the Fuels QA Manager, the successful candidate will ensure the procedures and processes are compliant with industry best practices (JIG 10) taking into account the limitations of the operational environment. You will ensure the Quality Management System is compliant with ISO 9001:2008 standards and the requirements our clients Fuels Quality Management System and you will monitor compliance with set quality control processes through continuous assessment. You will conduct fit for purpose inspections on bladder fuel storage/issue facilities and report results to the Operations Manager, GM, QHSE Manager and QA Manager. These inspections are to be done on the basis of all the relevant standards set by the client/customer and by our client. You will assist the QA Manager in identifying and implement required corrective actions within processes/procedures based on non conformances and will conduct and assist in investigations when quality issues are identified and report findings to the QA Manager. You will advise the QA Manager of any proposed changes to SOPs, forms and quality documents and will assist the QA manager to create new forms, SOPs and or documents when required to do so, ensuring they are approved by the QHSE Manager and registered in the central document data base. You will assist in and perform internal audits at all sites, including FOB and main bases, checking during these audits that all SOPs and procedures are followed correctly and report all findings to the QA Manager. Finally you will continually improve audit processes and will ensure that all defects, product non conformances, incidents, near misses and customer complaints are reported correctly to the QA Manager.

Job Requirements:

Knowledge and Skills: You will be an accomplished Fuels QA professional with experience in fuel handling and quality control. Your practical experience should ideally be supported by having attended courses at The Royal Logistics School of Petroleum based at West Moors, Dorset. England or country equivalent.

You will be experienced in Auditing to a recognised standard (BSI or, ISO 9001:2008 or, JIG) and able to deputise in the QA Managers absence.

You will be able to manage resources and time effectively and will ideally have experience of implementing an ISO 9001 Quality Management system.

You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.

Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.

You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.

Finally you should be PC / IT literate and possess a Drivers Licence.

This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Fuels QA professional looking for something different. Whilst our Clients operation is somewhat unique they are in it for the long term and are looking for a minimum of 12 to 18 months commitment.

The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is an annual profit share bonus available which is also paid in US Dollars and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Accommodation, laundry, local transport, health insurance, permanent disability and death benefit, bereavement leave and meals are all provided free. In addition you will have the use of a phone to call family and friends and also use of the internet for e-mails etc.

Western Ex-Patriate employees will receive 63 days annual leave per year and the work rota is approx 14 weeks on, 3.5 weeks off. Western Ex-Patriate employees will receive 3 paid return economy flights per year and Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
