Our client is the Support Services Division of this expanding international facilities Group which manages the design, construction and operation of sites for clients who need to operate in some of the world’s most challenging environments.

They are currently seeking Auto Electricians to work at Kandahar Air Field and Camp Bastion, Southern Afghanistan.

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient functioning of our clients fleet of vehicles and any other vehicles which are allocated to them for maintenance, ensuring the perpetual availability of all equipment types and groups, whilst maintaining a first class service to customers.

The successful candidate will carry out preventative maintenance and repair works on all company owned and rental equipment within trade qualifications and / or experience.

This will include: optimizing the availability of all company owned and operated assets; carry out planned and unplanned repairs to equipment and perform preventative maintenance servicing in accordance with current preventative maintenance schedules.

You will carry out trace and repair electrical circuits, testing and repairing of electrical components using diagnostic equipment.

Job Requirements:

Knowledge and Skills:

You should be an energetic and accomplished English speaking Auto Electrician who can ideally speak fluently at least one other language which may be your native language.

Your work experience should ideally be supported by a relevant trade qualification.

You will have extensive experience of vehicle maintenance and generators maintaining field power generation sets (up to and including 450 KVA) and experience of maintaining and repairing diesel forklifts and vehicles such as Toyota Hilux Utilities, Heavy Duty Trucks, Plant Equipment, Freightliners, Hino, and M/Benz etc. A basic knowledge of aviation trucks is desirable.

You will have experience of repairing auto electrics using the appropriate tools, performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed, determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

You will know how to conduct tests and inspections of auto electrics, services or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

You will be able to identify information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events, monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems and familiar with observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.

You should possess excellent communication skills in English and one other language, and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner, work to tight deadlines and pay attention to the detail.

Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.

This is an outstanding challenge for an Auto Electrician looking for something different.

The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is an annual bonus payable after 12 month’s service which is also paid in Euros and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Shared accommodation, laundry, local transport, permanent disability and death benefit, bereavement leave and meals are all provided free. In addition you will have the use of a phone to call family and friends and also use of the internet for e-mails etc.

Ex-Patriate employees will receive 40 days annual leave per year. In addition Ex-Patriate employees will receive 1 paid return economy flight in their first year of employment and thereafter 2 return economy flights per year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
