1048 - Waste Management Supervisors

Our client is the Support Services Division of this expanding international facilities Group which manages the design, construction and operation of sites for clients who need to operate in some of the world’s most challenging environments.

They are currently seeking Waste Management Supervisors to work at Kandahar Air Field and Camp Bastion, Southern Afghanistan. Reporting to the Waste Services Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the cost effective and efficient management of waste, garbage and septic waste removal. The successful candidate will ensure that the waste operations run cost effectively whilst offering the highest standard of service to the end client. You will supervise all waste services operations as outlined in the standard operating procedures. You will manage contracted clients with various services located in Afghanistan with sufficient and adequate staffing. You will liaise with the client and attend any meetings that you are called to attend and will complete month end documentation, invoice reconciliations etc. You will be responsible for the ordering of materials and that correct measures are used to perform the above tasks, ensuring good hygiene practice and ensuring staff members are well trained to perform their duties. You will ensure all equipment and assets are used correctly during the performance of their duty throughout the daily operation and will report any anomalies to the Waste Services Manager. Finally you will ensure the effective maintenance and smooth running of all vehicles on a daily basis.

Job Requirements:

Knowledge and Skills:

You should be an energetic and accomplished English speaking waste management professional who can ideally speak fluently at least one other language which may be your native language.

You will have sound experience and knowledge of waste management services and ideally have experience of supervising waste operations in post conflict and / or remote areas.

You will have previous supervisory experience which should include experience of supervising third world tradespersons, and have the ability to motivate and enforce “western” work practices and standards.

You should possess excellent communication skills in English and one other language, and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner, work to tight deadlines and pay attention to the detail.

Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions. Finally you should have a Drivers Licence and be PC / IT literate.

The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is an annual bonus payable after 12 month’s service which is also paid in Euros and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Shared accommodation, laundry, local transport, permanent disability and death benefit, bereavement leave and meals are all provided free. In addition you will have the use of a phone to call family and friends and also use of the internet for e-mails etc.

Ex-Patriate employees will receive 40 days annual leave per year. In addition Ex-Patriate employees will receive 1 paid return economy flight in their first year of employment and thereafter 2 return economy flights per year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
