Our client is the Support Services Division of this expanding international facilities Group which manages the design, construction and operation of sites for clients who need to operate in some of the world’s most challenging environments.
They are currently seeking Waste Management Assistants to work at Kandahar Air Field and Camp Bastion, Southern Afghanistan.
Reporting to the Waste Management Supervisor the successful candidate will be part of the waste team responsible for ensuring the smooth operating of the waste department, and will maintain/report all technical and mechanical repairs to the Waste Services Manager.
You will assist the Driver of a waste management truck with a capacity of more than 3 tons to transport waste materials to and from different sites.
You or the Driver will maintain telephone contact with your Supervisor / Manager to receive instructions or be dispatched to a new location and will keep records of all waste transported.
You and the Driver will ensure that all equipment is secured for transport and you will assist in the cleaning, inspecting and servicing of the vehicle.
You will operate the equipment on the vehicle to load, unload, or disperse waste and will assist in the loading and unloading of the truck manually.
Finally you will ensure that you obtain the customers signature of all waste collected.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge and Skills:
You should be energetic and English speaking who can ideally speak fluently at least one other language which may be your native language. Ideally you will have a valid drivers licence.
You will have experience and knowledge of waste management services and ideally have experience of assisting in a waste management environment in post conflict and / or remote areas.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English and one other language, and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner, work to tight deadlines and pay attention to the detail.
Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
This is an outstanding challenge for a Waste Management Assistant looking for something different.
The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is an annual bonus payable after 12 month’s service which is also paid in Euros and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Shared accommodation, laundry, local transport, permanent disability and death benefit, bereavement leave and meals are all provided free. In addition you will have the use of a phone to call family and friends and also use of the internet for e-mails etc.
Ex-Patriate employees will receive 40 days annual leave per year. In addition Ex-Patriate employees will receive 1 paid return economy flight in their first year of employment and thereafter 2 return economy flights per year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
