Our client is the Fuels Trading Division which provides vital services in fuel management and supply to both the military and private companies operating in post conflict and remote areas.
They are currently seeking a number of Fuel Supervisors who will assist the Operations Manager in managing fuel operations at military camps in Afghanistan.
Reporting into the Fuel Operations Manager and managing a team of Petroleum, FARP, Flight line and Retail fuel employees you will act as point of contact for communications between the Operations Manager and other interested parties.
Specifically you will maintain the operator training program and training records to ensure that trained operators are available to maintain a sustained facility operation.
You will assist the Operations Manager with day to day reporting and other reports required by other reporting agencies.
You will implement the emergency response and related regulatory plans and ensure that
required emergency response and related regulatory plans are updated and available on site.
You will ensure the reliability of the emergency response equipment and will maintain proper records and will conduct periodic spill drills.
You will oversee the proactive program to recognize, identify and correct operational
problems within the facility, investigate, evaluate, and determine the best application of new developments within the industry, and devise other means of securing maximum efficiency of personnel and equipment.
You will maintain property records and upkeep of equipment and structures and will demonstrate a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
Finally you will interpret company policies and methods and develop specific operating
procedures and will delegate functional activities to workers and establish schedules and
responsibilities to ensure quality and timeliness of independent decisions required to provide continuous service to the client and safety of workers.
You should ideally have a military background and have considerable experience in fuel distribution and all associated operational aspects of fuel storage and distribution.
You should be familiar with testing equipment for checking fuel, fuel storage and dispensing systems, petroleum industry standards and EPA and regulations pertaining to retail fuel facilities.
Your knowledge and experience should ideally be supported by having attended courses at The Royal Logistics School of Petroleum based at West Moors, Dorset. England or equivalent.
It is desirable if you posses HAZMAT Operators Licence for Class 1 and 3 vehicles and also hold a Certificate in Health and Safety Management.
You should have the ability to work cooperatively with other employees, various governmental and private agencies and the general public.
You should have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, ability to write routine reports and correspondence and the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Past experience within Pakistan and Afghanistan is highly beneficial as is working in any remote or isolated location.
Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally some Dari or Pashto language skills, and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment. Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be IT / PC literate - Microsoft Office.
This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Fuels Supervisor looking for something different. Whilst our Clients operation is somewhat different they are in it for the long term and are looking for a minimum of 12 – 18 months commitment.
The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is an annual bonus payable after 12 month’s service which is also paid in US Dollars and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Accommodation, laundry, local transport, health insurance, permanent disability and death benefit, bereavement leave and meals are provided free. In addition you will have the use of a phone to call family and friends and also use of the internet for e-mails etc.
Western Ex-Patriate employees will receive 63 days annual leave per year and the working rota is approximately 14 weeks on, 3.5 weeks off
In addition Western Ex-Patriate employees will receive 3 paid return economy flights per year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
