Our Client and the Role:
Founded in 1957, our client has over 50 years of experience developing and operating customized supply chain and associated service solutions in demanding environments.
Supported by a world-wide network of resources including state – of – the – art warehousing facilities, bulk fuel installations and real time freight tracking capabilities, our client provides workable resolutions to complex client requirements in the areas of food logistics, catering, retail, aviation, transport and warehousing, camp services and fuel management.
Our Client is the Support Services Division of this rapidly expanding group and provides vital services in food logistics to remote sites in post conflict locations and remote areas.
They ensure essential items such as food and bottled water is delivered with minimal disruption, under the most challenging conditions.
Our Client manages a large food distribution contract from distribution centres located in Africa on behalf of a large peacekeeping force. They are currently seeking a QA Manager for these multi-temperature distribution centres.
Reporting into the Operations Controller – Africa and with a functional responsibility to the Central QA Manager based in Dubai, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and promoting continuous improvement of our clients food safety program throughout the customers program, ensuring the meeting of the customers contractual obligations for food and product safety and compliance.
You will monitor compliance of the food safety program through internal auditing and
routine product inspection and will oversee management of corrective action program through direct contact with Warehouse and Operations Managers to ensure actions are implemented in a timely manner with an effective outcome.
Specifically you will undertake internal audits as per the agreed schedule set by the Central QA Manager.
You will design, implement and maintain the QA program for our clients customer and will oversee the implementation of suggestions and preventative actions raised from the audits.
You will report audit score and findings to senior management after each audit
conducted.
You will ensure the development of the quality culture on site to increase employee
awareness to factors that may compromise food safety through guidance and
training.
With guidance from the Operations Controller and the Central QA Manager you will maintain, control and conduct maintenance of the Food Safety program as required
Finally you will provide technical guidance and support to Line Managers and all other personnel.
Knowledge and Skills:
To meet this unique challenge, you will ideally be an accomplished QA Manager with your quality assurance experience ideally gained in an fmcg environment with a strong understanding of food safety programs, HACCP principles, inspection and audit programs.
Your practical experience should ideally be supported by a tertiary education with a qualification in a science discipline, ideally food technology.
You should have formal accreditation as an Auditor or Trainer in HACCP Food Hygiene / Handling and ideally experienced in implementing, developing and conducting food hygiene / food safety training. BRC Audit knowledge, or equivalent is highly desirable.
Experience of having worked in a food manufacturing site and / or warehouse distribution environment is highly desirable.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally in French and some Arabic, able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be IT / PC literate.
This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished QA and Food Safety professional looking for something different.
The basic salary is paid in Euros and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is an annual bonus payable after 12 month’s service which is also paid in Euros and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Accommodation, laundry, local transport, medical / health insurance, permanent disability and death benefit, bereavement leave and meals are all provided free. In addition you will have the use of a phone to call family and friends and also use of the internet for e-mails etc.
Ex-Patriate employees will receive 63 days annual leave per year and the working rota is approximately 14 weeks on, 3.5 weeks off. In addition Ex-Patriate employees will receive 3 paid return economy flights per year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
