Our Client and the Role:
Our Client is a Catering & Hotel Management Company, a global leader in remote site facilities management services in various segments such as: oil & gas, mining, construction etc.
They provide integrated hospitality services such as catering and food services, laundry, housekeeping, janitorial, maintenance services, waste disposal, landscaping, manpower, security, vehicle fleet management, transportation and logistics.
They are currently seeking an Operations Manager to be based in Africa.
Reporting into the Projects and Contract Manager for EMEA region, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a number of operations in such a manner that customer satisfaction and budgeted profit margins are achieved.
The role is wide ranging and has responsibility for both front and back of house operations. Front of House operations include Unit / Site Facilities Management Services, Restaurants / Buffet Bars, Bond Shop / Commissary Store, Special Functions, Menu Planning, On and Off Shore Operations, Budgetary Control, Cost Planning, Turn Key Projects inclusive of modular camp buildings.
Back of House operations include Galleys, Catering Crew and Staff, Food Store Rooms, Waste Disposal, Laundry, Landscaping, Purchase Orders and Stock Control and the production of Monthly Management Reports.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge and Skills:
You should be an energetic and accomplished English speaking Catering Operations Manager or Camp Boss and have previous multi-site catering management experience.
You should be highly self motivated with the ability to communicate and motivate a varied team.
Experience of working in contracted catering services, on or off shore environment or for a leading international facilities management provider would be ideal, as would experience of working in post conflict areas, remote sites or in other arduous environments.
You will have an excellent understanding of commercial catering operations and specifically a high degree of knowledge on food hygiene including HACCP, food handling and food presentation concepts and knowledge of popular catering and bakery products.
You should ideally possess a BOSIET certificate or if not must be prepared to undertake the training to acquire a certificate.
You should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and ideally one other language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be PC / IT literate.
This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Catering Operations Manager looking for something different.
The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is an annual bonus payable which is also paid in US Dollars and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
Single Accommodation in a shared house, laundry, company vehicle, medical / health cover and meals are all provided free.
The working rota is approximately 5 months on, 15 days off.
In addition Ex-Patriate employees will receive paid return economy flights per year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
