PROGRAM BACKGROUND
Provision of support to the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) in Libya to improve access to social welfare services for vulnerable groups at risk of or exposed to violence.

JOB SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of the Child Protection Specialist will be to build the capacity of social workers in order to better support vulnerable families, and respond to cases of child protection in Western Libya.

1 - Build the capacity of the Libyan Ministry of Social Affairs through developing training materials and conducting training of social workers. Training topics include:
• Child protection guiding principles
• Social work roles and responsibilities
• Working with children, families, and communities
• Case intake/ assessment
• Social work ethics
• Communication skills
• Referral/ linking
• Advocacy

2- Assist in supervision and the facilitation of case presentations of MoSA social workers.

3- Facilitate continued coordination between the Ministry of Social Affairs and local child protection actors.

4- Support social workers’ practical application of skills including assessment, community mapping, case management, and referral.

5- Contribute to the effective reporting, monitoring, and evaluation of child protection trainings.

6- Participate in and represent IMC in relevant external coordination meetings and working groups
