1. Scope of Work
The consultant will be expected to conduct a four days actual training session on Disaster Assessment specific to the following tasks:
1. Identify, collect, consult with subject experts and review information gathered through reports, reference books, and other sources of literatures
2. Develop, contextualize and/or adapt existing participatory tools and methodologies, based on information
3. Develop a training curriculum on participatory community based hazard mapping and assessment. Curriculum should include 1-) Assessment ?disaster profiling, focus group, structure and semi-structured interviews, discussion, stake holders analysis; 2-) types of multiple hazards, and its geographical distribution subject to season and space, physical exposure (elements at risk), identification of safer location, safer routes for emergency evacuations, hazard ranking matrix (proportional piling)
4. Explain relationship between hazard, vulnerability, capacity and risk using Ven Diagram, seasonal calendar,
5. Conduct participatory hazard assessment and mapping skill development training for a batch of 30 participants (Facilitate training (learning by doing for 30 participants )
6. Aware about participants with hazard specific early warning signs and signal
7. Create teams from trained participants for further imparting training to community volunteers.
8. Facilitate community based hazard mapping and assessments (1 day field visit of a village if security allows)
9. Finalization of training report
General points:
10. Consultant/s must ensure have pre and post training forms properly filled out by training participants.
11. Ensure trainings are delivered by consultant/s in full compliance with session plans as well as training material is fully explained to ensure that training participants have understood what was shared with them.
12. Consultant/s should ensure that peer/horizontal learning as well benefiting from local wisdom, examples and lessons learnt is encouraged in trainings.
13. Consultant/s strictly follows and honor principle understanding developed with you and reflected in this document of TORs.
