PROGRAM BACKGROUND
Responding to the severe lack of health providers in South Sudan, International Medical Corps through funding from UNFPA, will be implementing a training program that will help prepare competent compassionate enrolled midwives working at the health facility level. The project will contribute significantly South Sudan’s Strengthening Human Resources for Health strategy through modification of interventions at the National Health Training Institute in Kajo Keji and the National Midwifery School in Wau. The program will ultimately contribute to reducing the maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality rates and improve the health of the population of South Sudan.

JOB SUMMARY
The primary function of the Program Manager includes supporting the Program Coordinator in the implementation or program activities inclusive of; supervision of staff, day to day administration of overall programs.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide overall leadership to the management of the National Midwifery School in Wau;
- Act as school principal;
- Design and develop appropriate training materials and programs to meet the learning requirements, including preparation of lessons plans for both theory and practical learning per GOSS MoH standards;
- Facilitate midwifery training and provide leadership to academic staff and training initiatives;
- Recruit and manage national staff: trainers, clinical instructors, nurses, midwives, logistics and other support staff;
- Supervise students in general nursing, maternity and community health placements with tutors and ward nurses;
- Review course content, curriculum and students’ roster prior to class;
- Facilitate training and identify students' needs for nursing and midwifery cohorts and qualified nurses and midwives within the training institution and clinical areas by providing theoretical and practical training in conjunction with program continuing education;
- Liaise with MOH, Directorate of Nursing and Midwifery of MOH on all issues pertaining to the training institute and support institute to achieve and maintain GOSS standards.
- Serve as IMC’s Site Manager in Wau, overseeing all financial, logistics, security and HR operations according to IMC policies and procedures.
