PROGRAM OVERVIEW
International Medical Corps (IMC) is seeking a public health nutritionist to work with the IMC’s Chad Nutrition Program. The Nutritionist will support the Care Groups through which infant and young child feeding (IYCF) and social behavior change (SBC) related to nutrition will be implemented.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

-Design SBC strategy and detailed activities’ plan including identifying audiences, communication channels and tools at each level: mother/other caregiver, household, community, facility, and environment.

-Implement, scale up and monitor SBC activities in the working area as per project implementation plan
Adapt /Produce tools for identification of key factors that influence behavior change to ensure that behavior change messages are relevant to the local context

-Work with nutrition team on developing and conducting surveys and evaluations as needed. This could include knowledge, attitudes and practices, SMART, Barriers analysis and other surveys

-Develop and manage the Care Group and SBC components

-Train national staff to implement the Care Group program

-Ensure efficiency and results-oriented performance in the Care Group component of the program

-Develop and implement a capacity building plan on the Care Group component, IYCF, and SBC for local project staff

-Develop a plan for SBC capacity building and training activities in coordination with the nutrition team

-Liaise with the Ministry of Health at district and regional to ensure sustainability

-Document all processes and outputs of SBC capacity building, coordination and management of activities to ensure a experiences and lessons are well documented for future reference

-Prepare an M&E plan for the Care Group component

-Provide monthly and quarterly technical progress reports as required and in a timely manner

-Coordinate with nutrition team for referrals between nutrition components.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS
1.Master degree in public health or nutrition, nutrition or medical anthropology, social sciences or behavior change and 5 + years of relevant work experience (minimum 3 years in developing country) or Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, anthropology or social sciences and 7+ years of relevant work experience (minimum 5 years in developing country)
2.Solid SBC experience; Care Group experience preferred
3.Very strong analytical and problem solving skills, ability to take the initiative
4.Knowledgeable about latest development best practices relating to SBC techniques and tools
5.Possess proven analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills
6.Ability to relate to and motivate local staff effectively
7.Ability to work in hardship conditions and in conflict-prone areas; ability to be flexible
8.Project startup experience preferred
9.Excellent oral and written communication; good computer skills, strong writing skills (in English and French)

LANGUAGES
• Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret, technical and non-technical in the English and French language is a requirement.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond appropriately to questions from senior managers in the field and HQ, counterparts, senior government and rebel leaders and other related regional players
