JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of the post will be to ensure appropriate psychosocial support is available to PWD, and war wounded clients in Western Mountains through training and supervising national staff.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The focus ofthe work is to support disabled people and their families and ensure Libyan staff receive appropriate training and support to implement modern approaches to disability. The Specialist will ensure the implementation ofthe following:
1.Ensure that the project goals and targets in regard to psycho social activities are implemented and met
2.Work with the local social workers/ psychologist, and physiotherapists to ensure that appropriate consultations, recommendations and treatment plans are developed for those that seek support
3.Ensure training needs analysis is undertaken and that social workers (and/or other support workers) receive up to date training on disability and other related issues 4.. Assist with setting up ofpeer-to-peer counseling and user groups (persons who use the centre for physiotherapy and psycho social care)
5.Ensure that disabled people and their families are fully included in decision making about any services they receive
6.Work in partnership with the physiotherapists in the centre (ex-pat and local) to ensure that there is harmony in treatment plans and activities.
7-Work with technical disability advisor and Rehab coordinator on initiating community outreach for PWD~and their families, train! educate on home modifications~ and self care.
QUALIFICATIONS
•University degree in Psychology, Social work, Occupational Therapy or a relevant degree
•Rehabilitation and/or psychotherapy work experience in the public or private sector.
•Experience of disability preferably both in conflict and non contfict settings
•Training experience
•Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary settings including but not limited to considering influences of culture, ethnicity, language, gender, age, developmental level, sexual orientation, social network, residence and geographic location, socioeconomic status, and relative visibility and/or assumption of disability on attitudes and available services.
•Extensive knowledge on public mental health approach and prevention/promotion treatment and rehabilitation models in MHPSS.
•Personal qualities include a sense of initiative, strong work ethics, very good communication skills, self-confidence and commitment to humanitarian issues.
•Languages: Fluency in oral and written English, and preferably Arabic as well.
•Computer skills: Proficiency in current office software applications.
