PROGRAM BACKGROUND
International Medical Corps has continued to work in Darfur for the last eight years, providing primary health care, maternal and child health, nutrition, and water and sanitation services. International Medical Corps' programming serves approximately 500,000 people, 75 percent of whom are internally displaced by civil conflict and ongoing violence. In addition to direct services, International Medical Corps also invests in local health professionals and national staff through training and education, so that there is a continuity of care and a foundation for long-term recovery.
JOB SUMMARY
The primary function of the Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator is to improve the existing M&E systems as needed and manage the M&E team in monitoring program-wide data collection and analysis process. The M&E Coordinator will work closely with the Program Director, Deputy Country Director and Finance and Admin Director.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Improve the existing M&E systems as needed, working closely with the Program Director, Deputy Country Director and Finance/Administration Director
• Build and manage project-specific Program Management Plans (PMP), including updating the indicator performance tracking tables (IPTT) on a monthly basis, providing feedback to the Program Director on monthly targets versus achievements
• Manage the M&E team in monitoring the program-wide data collection and analysis process, ensuring high quality and accuracy
• Travel to field sites to ensure data collection systems are functioning properly
• Lead the development of all internal and external reports, working closely with the Program Director, Site Teams and Finance and Administration Director
• Conduct needs assessments in the field as required
• Assist the Program Director in planning and development of project proposals with particular focus on needs assessments and M&E sections
• Design and provide training to staff on M&E including the development and use of M&E tools
• Coordinate in-country planning and implementation of evaluation activities, including qualitative and quantitative data collection and guiding any external evaluation process
• Build the capacity of local partners in the areas of data collection and monitoring
• Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelors degree in related field, Masters degree preferred
• Minimum of 2-3 years programming experience in humanitarian work, with a specific focus on M&E
• Excellent written and oral communication skills (fluency in English required)
• Previous experience in the health, nutrition and WASH sectors desired
• Experience with proposal development and reporting to donors including USAID/OFDA and ECHO
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially excel and word and experience using other database software (SPSS, Epi-info, STATA, ENA for SMART)
• Experience with developing and delivering trainings to expatriate and national staff
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work under pressure
• Ability to travel to remote field sites, sometimes for extended periods
LANGUAGES
• Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret, technical and non-technical in the English language.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond appropriately to questions from senior managers in the field and HQ, counterparts, senior government and rebel leaders and other related regional players
