PROGRAM BACKGROUND
International Medical Corps is working to build the capacity of the rehabilitation sector in Libya.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Support the development of Libyan physiotherapists by:
• Develop training programmes for local physiotherapists particularly on management of paediatric disabilities.
• Provide on-the-job support
• Identify any equipment needs
2. identify and train local physiotherapists to be trainers
3. Ensure that families are involved in rehabilitation activities
4. Ensure all newly operated on persons, particularly children receive treatment
5. Ensure the development of a monitoring and referral system to ensure patient’s progress is tracked.
6. Improve data collection system and client information registry at the rehab centres.
7. Help develop an outreach service for those who cannot get to Rehabilitation Centres
8. Supervise physiotherapy activities in the programme,
9. Ensure that daily exercise routines that patients can implement for themselves are set up
10. Ensure the appropriate equipping of rehab centres with basic physiotherapy materials (balls, tables, weights etc) and essential equipment of physical rehabilitation of children with disabilities.
11. Work with other support staff (psychologists, social workers) to ensure support groups are developed
12. Ensure that on-the-job training for physiotherapists and other technical aides takes place.
13. Advise and work with the Rehabilitation Programme Manager on physiotherapy related issues
14. Represent IMC on physiotherapy issues
15. Ensure the production of reports and that any lessons learnt can be documented both for internal use and for possible publication
16. Ensure smooth liaison with Ministry of Health, Social Affairs and training facilities in Libya

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Degree in Physiotherapy, Minimum of 3 – 4 years experience
2. Experience of in neurological and pediatric physical rehabilitation preferable.
3. Experience in bio psycho social approach to treatment
4. Experience of training, both design and implementation of training programmes
5. Skilled in the prevention of disability
6. CBR/outreach experience an advantage
7. Experience of P+O including the appropriate usage of adaptive aids
8. NGO experience
9. Experience of EC funded programmes
10. Experience in Middle East/North Africa highly desirable
11. Ability to think creatively and problem solve
12. Excellent networking and liaison skills
13. Ability to self direct
14. Strong ability to work in a team
15. Ability to work under difficult circumstances
16. Excellent writing and representational skills


LANGUAGES
• Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret, technical and non-technical in the English language.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond appropriately to questions from senior managers in the field and HQ, counterparts, senior government and rebel leaders and other related regional players
• Ability to speak Arabic a plus
