Program Summary
In anticipation of an upcoming USAID-funded Food For Peace/Title II Development Food Assistance Program (DFAP) (formerly Multi-Year Assistance Program, or MYAP) for Zimbabwe, International Medical Corps is seeking qualified applicants with experience in Food For Peace/Title II projects.
Job Summary
The BCC Nutrition Specialist will, in coordination with the Team Lead, oversee the nutritional activities in the anticipated program. She/He will coach and guide Nutritionist workers at the field sites.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nutrition activities
• Integrate nutrition with other health and related programs
• Coordinate and collaborate with other sectors as appropriate.
• Provide technical assistance to IMC staff and other collaborating agencies
Implement behavior change and communications (BCC) strategy for essential nutrition actions
o Engage communities in improving nutrition for pregnant and lactating women, infants and young children
implement monitoring and evaluation activities related to nutrition activities
o Assist in implementing community level food distribution activities related to the nutrition activities
o Create linkages with community infant and young child feeding (IYCF) activities, maternal, newborn and child health, family planning and HIV/AIDS programming
• Work with, and build the capacity of, local partners to implement effective nutrition interventions
• Coordinate closely with other program partners for nutrition-related programming that is agriculture-based
• Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of relevant work experience (minimum 2 years in developing country or international development program
• Experience in Primary Health Care and supplementary feeding projects required
• Strong organizational and supervisory skills;
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work within different cultural environments, the ability to analyze and prioritize needs.
• Ability to relate to and motivate local staff effectively.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret administrative reports, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, counterparts, Ministry of Health, IMC headquarters office.
LANGUAGES
• Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret, technical and non-technical in the English language.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond appropriately to questions from senior managers in the field and HQ, counterparts, senior government and other related regional players
