PROGRAM BACKGROUND:
In anticipation of an upcoming USAID-funded Food For Peace/Title II Development Food Assistance Program (DFAP) (formerly Multi-Year Assistance Program, or MYAP) for Zimbabwe, International Medical Corps is seeking qualified applicants with experience in Food For Peace/Title II projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assess food distribution chain for the project and implementing necessary action to prepare staff and infrastructure for receipt of food, safe storage, and distribution.
• Oversee program activities related to commodity receipt, warehousing, inventory management and distribution.
• Directly supervise IMC logistics staff.
• Coordinate with nutrition staff on the distribution plan and implementation, including the monitoring of commodity end use by food aid recipients.
• Ensure use of the necessary commodity tracking forms and implement mandatory logistics reporting in line with Title II commodity tracking compliance requirements.
• Ensure that plan for commodities receipt and storage is aligned with distribution plan and storage capacity in all locations. Ensure safe commodities storage in all locations.
• Ensure implementation of the accurate physical counts of remaining stock balances at the end of each month in each stock location.
• Coordinate logistics aspects of the commodities receipt at various distribution points and ensure all evidences of received inventory are collected and accounted for.
• Ensure the integrity of program systems for commodity control and the reporting of inventory, distribution and all commodity losses to HQ logistics team and finance staff in accordance with USAID/FFP and prime requirements.
• Represent IMC with partners and authorities in a professional manner.
• Observe the delivery of commodities from designated partner’s warehouses to the final destinations throughout the country, document lapses in commodity control observed, and provide recommendations for risk mitigation to IMC Team Leader.
• In the event of commodity theft or loss, ensure appropriate measures are taken in compliance with IMC escalation policies and procedures.
• Utilize commodity management training materials and written protocols to serve as a guide for operations in-country and the development of corporate policies for the warehouse, transportation (where required) and distribution administration. Deliver training to International Medical Corps staff and MoH staff on effective food commodity management and accountability for commodities.
• Mentor and build capacity of national staff

Job Requirements:

• At least 10 years of logistics management experience, including warehouse management, preferably with food commodities.
• Commodity sales and marketing experience (preferred).
• Experience negotiating with host country governments and on goods clearance issues.
• At least 7 years of experience in field logistics management, with preferable prior experience in Zimbabwe.
• Familiarity and experience with food aid programs, particularly USAID Title II programs.
• Experience supervising and leading teams and monitoring staff performance.
• Systems-oriented ability to design, implement and train.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (minimum requirement).
• Must be proficient in Microsoft applications, particularly MS Excel; database experience required.


Conditions:

• Must be able to travel.
• Must be able to work in austere environments and lift, minimum, 45 pounds.
