International Medical Corps is a global, humanitarian, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs.
Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through
health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.
PROGRAM BACKGROUND
International Medical Corps in Lebanon is implementing an extensive health program to assist Syrian refugees. A large part of the program work is on secondary health care. International Medical Corps is working with a network of 22 hospitals and is working to improve the auditing system in place.
JOB SUMMARY
This position will ensure the continued technical success of International Medical Corps’ current health care initiatives. The selected candidate will provide technical support and expertise and the ongoing improvement of International Medical Corps’ health care initiatives.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Review the current program set up for secondary health care - ensuring adequate staff and systems are in place.
2. Review criteria currently being used and make any necessary recommendations.
3. Visit each hospital IMC has under contract for the Syrian refugee assistance program and write up report based on standards, modus operandi, etc.
4. Review auditing process in with the auditors, Medical Coordinator and Medical Consultant.
5. Review monitoring & evaluation of program field activities under SHC.
QUALIFICATIONS
•Graduate degree in health financing, health systems or related studies;
•At least 10 years field experience in public sector management for health services delivery including public financial management systems;
•Demonstrated expertise in monitoring of healthcare provision in low and middle income contexts.
