Job Requirements:

Key Qualifications and competencies:
• Master’s degree in Nutrition or Public Health plus 5 years of relevant work experience (minimum 3 years in developing country or emergency response);
• Minimum of 3 years work experience in CMAM, IYCF and BCC required;
• Program development and management experience in a humanitarian and/or emergency situation required, including all aspect of program cycle management;
• Very strong writing skills in English required; Proven experience writing high-quality proposals, reports and external communication materials required;
• Ability to train national and international staff on state-of-the-art approaches to nutrition response in emergencies;
• Demonstrated analytical and conceptual skills to plan projects, develop timetables for agreed activities and oversee staff activities;
• Strong organizational and supervisory skills;
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work within different cultural environments;
• Demonstrate a flexible approach to managing and prioritizing a high workload and multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines;
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently;
• Extremely flexible, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations;
• Ability to relate to and motivate staff effectively;
• Creativity and the ability to work with limited resources;
• Ability and willingness to travel to rural locations and live in basic conditions;
• Previous experience working for an international NGO in developing countries required;
• Previous experience in Sub-Saharan Africa desired;

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee will be frequently required to walk, occasionally required to sit and reach with hands and arms.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment in the field site office involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

The work environment in the field involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress requiring a range of safety and other precautions e.g. under threat of physical attack or mob conditions, or similar situations in which conditions cannot be controlled
