We are working with an associate recruitment company who has offices in New Zealand. They are currently seeking Excavator / Machine Operators to work on earthquake reconstruction projects in Christchurch, New Zealand.
The civil works will include road building and repairs, repairing and replacing water, sewage and gas pipelines and all drainage systems in the city and surrounding suburbs.
Following the earthquake in 2011 there is a huge pipe line of work for the next ten years associated with the rebuild, repair and modernising of the city.
Some of the major projects in Christchurch CBD area include building a new rugby stadium and sports complex, new convention centre and new public transport system.
These positions are offered initially on a 6 month contract. Thereafter new contracts can be offered and if you wish to stay in New Zealand, the end client will offer sponsorship.
You will be an experienced construction machine operator with experience of driving and operating excavators.
You should have a rigid truck or HGV licence for at least two years.
You will have experience in bulk earthwork projects, pipe laying and drainage projects.
Ideally you will be experienced in working and trimming to levels, experienced in driving bulk tip trucks and experienced in manual pipe-laying on public drainage works.
Previous experience of running a crew as an 'Operator Foreman is highly desirable.
You should have a good knowledge of site safety procedures and practices.
You should be able to work independently and unsupervised and within a team environment.
You must be physically fit.
Candidates other than from New Zealand must be available to travel on a working holiday visa and have a minimum of 6 months unexpired time on an existing working holiday visa or alternatively able to gain a working holiday visa to New Zealand.
If successful, candidates will have to pay their own costs of getting across to New Zealand i.e. visa £85, flights approx. £800, possibly cheaper and also pay for their own accommodation.
Salary will be paid in New Zealand Dollars and will be in a range of 22 - 27 NZD per hour. After 6 months salaries will rise by 20%. Opportunities for promotion are excellent.
The end client will assist candidates secure temporary accommodation for the first few weeks after they arrive and will also assist getting bank accounts and tax numbers set up.
