Job Description:

Our Client is a subsidiary of a leading global provider of design, engineering, program management, construction management, and operations and maintenance support. They provide facilities management support to the International Peacekeeping Force which operates in the Sinai, Egypt.
They are currently seeking a High Voltage Lead Electrician to be based at the North Camp located in the North of the Sinai close to the Mediterranean coast. This is an 18 month contract position initially and then renewable for an additional 18 months.
Reporting into the Electrical Power Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for a team of Power Plant Operators and Mechanics. You will troubleshoot and perform maintenance on diesel generators and control panels and will supervise the activities of assigned personnel on corrective and preventive work both on camp and at remote sites.
Specifically you will assign, monitor and perform operations and maintenance of power distribution systems and equipment and will carry out preventive maintenance in accordance with approved schedules and ensures maintenance records are kept up to date.
You will inspect and maintain all switchgear (OCB, MCB, ACB) and adjust/calibrate as required and will plan and execute power outages and maintenance of transformers and switchgear to ensure acceptable maintenance standards.
You will conduct selective load shedding to optimize generator efficiency, test and clean all cooling oil to acceptable standards.
You will troubleshoot major power problems and take remedial action (including HV cable jointing) and will carry out preventive maintenance and repair of electrical equipment on main power plant generators and will examine operator and maintenance logs for indications of unusual operation.
At North Camp you will act as Assistant Electrical Power Supervisor if so designated.
At South Camp you will provide assistance and/or advice on high voltage matters, as required.
You will ensure that all safety instructions are complied with and that all tools, machinery and equipment are correctly maintained and used and that safety gear is worn as appropriate.
Finally you will train Egyptian National personnel in accomplishing work in accordance with generally accepted industry and professional standards and the approved On-Job-Training program.
You should be an accomplished Electrician with experience of high voltage electrical power distribution and of oil testing and transformer housekeeping. Ideally you will have specific experience and knowledge of power generation in an overseas remote location. Some supervisory team leader experience is highly desirable.
Your practical experience should include having served a full engineering apprenticeship in electrical engineering supported by a technical qualification in electrical practice (UK Higher National Certificate or equivalent).
You should have had training in high voltage switchgear and oil filled transformers from 3800v to 22000v and you should have excellent knowledge of European, American and British standards and practice.
You should be a confident communicator with the ability to supervise, motivate, coach and train a team of Egyptian nationals. You will be flexible, possess initiative and able to pick things up quickly.
Experience of working in a military environment or for an international facilities management services provider and other similar organisations would be ideal, as would experience of working in remote sites or in other arduous environments.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
Finally you should be pc literate and possess a Drivers Licence.
This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished High Voltage Electrician looking for something different.
The basic salary is paid in the currency of your citizenship and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
An 18 month unaccompanied status contract is offered which includes free accommodation, laundry, local transport, life assurance, disability insurance and meals. In addition employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and the internet for e-mails etc.
The R and R entitlement is 38 days over the 18 month contract plus 12 public holidays a year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are paid for by our client.
