We are working with an associate recruitment company who has offices in New Zealand, Australia and Dublin. They have a client who are designers and constructors of storage tanks for oil, chemical and water resources industries and are currently seeking a Pipe Welder / Pipe Fitter to work in Geelong, Victoria, Australia.
The work involves the fitting up and welding of carbon steel and stainless pressure piping.
You will use TIG, STT and flux cored welding techniques.
The position is offered initially on a 6 month contract. Thereafter new contracts can be offered and if you wish to stay in Australia, the end client will offer sponsorship.
You will be an experienced Welder with formal qualifications in boiler-making and have plate and pipe tickets.
You must be able to demonstrate experience in welding to international codes and standards preferably AS7196.
You will be competent in TIG, STT and flux cored welding process on pipework in carbon and stainless steel with experience in exotic materials.
You must be able to pass an in-house welding test in the 6G position.
You will be able to read and interpret isometric drawings and record in English the necessary fabrication data on the isometrics.
You must be able to assemble piping with a high degree of accuracy.
You should be able to work independently and unsupervised and within a team environment.
You will have clear communication skills and must be able to listen closely to instructions and respond effectively.
You must be physically fit.
You should possess a Drivers Licence.
Candidates other than from Australia must be available to travel on a working holiday visa and have a minimum of 6 months unexpired time on an existing working holiday visa or alternatively able to gain a working holiday visa to Australia.
If successful, candidates will have to pay their own costs of getting across to Australia i.e. visa £85, flights approx. £800, possibly cheaper and also pay for their own accommodation.
Salary will be paid in Australian Dollars and will be negotiable based upon your experience.
The end client will assist candidates secure temporary accommodation for the first few weeks after they arrive and will also assist getting bank accounts and tax numbers set up.
