We are working with an associate recruitment company who has offices in New Zealand, Australia, Canada and Dublin who have a client who is a Canadian based company operating for over 40 years in the electrical contracting, power and manufacturing sectors.
They are seeking to hire a Principal Electrical Engineer for its automation division.
The position is permanent.
The Principal Electrical Engineer (which is at Director level) will lead a team of Electrical Design Engineers and will report into the Managing Director in the organisation.
The role will require the successful candidate to take the technical lead and be responsible for overseeing and approving all technical deliverables for substation design projects and other power related projects in the automation division of this organisation.
You will also play a key role in the design, equipment specification and equipment procurement for all tendering and project delivery stages of the projects.
You will be an accomplished Professional Electrical Design Engineer with a recognised electrical engineering qualification.
You will have substantial experience working in the power / utilities industry in protection engineering and substation design engineering roles.
You must be capable of designing a substation from start to finish covering technical specification, concept design, detailed schematics and IED configurations to supporting FAT/SAT services.
You will have strong technical knowledge and skills across the power sector with specific knowledge on IEC 61850 to the level that you can be described as a Subject Matter Expert in respect of IEC 61850 with power systems design.
You should have leadership experience of engineering design activity - managing teams of design / production engineering and drafting.
You should have great attention to detail with complex problems to ensure that outputs are accurate.
You should have a demonstrable record of successfully leading continual improvement in a production / manufacturing environment.
You should be experienced in customer relations and have excellent influencing and team working skills.
On a personal level you must have a strong boardroom presence, so that your personality means that when you walk into a boardroom, your presence is noticed and that you are listened to intently.
You should possess a Drivers Licence and be PC / IT literate.
Candidates other than from Canada must be available to travel on a working holiday visa and have a minimum of 6 months unexpired time on an existing working holiday visa or alternatively able to gain a working holiday visa to Canada.
Basic salary will be in a range of 150,000 - 200,000 Canadian Dollars per annum. In addition there is a bonus scheme in place. A full relocation package will be made available for the successful candidate.
