Materials Planner

The Materials Planner plays a key role in ensuring the timely availability of raw materials and components for production, while optimizing inventory and managing costs. This position requires a strong understanding of material planning, supplier coordination, and inventory management to support smooth operations across the supply chain. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and skilled in data analysis, with a focus on continuous improvement and collaboration across multiple departments. Main responsibilities: Material Planning & Procurement Develop and maintain material requirement plans (PLEX MRP) based on customer orders, production schedules, and inventory levels. Ensure the timely procurement of plastic pellets, paints, chemicals, and auxiliary materials (e.g., tapes, clips, seals, screws) to support uninterrupted production. Monitor material consumption and adjust procurement plans accordingly to avoid shortages or excess stock. Supplier Coordination & Inventory Management Work closely with suppliers and procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and components. Optimize inventory levels to balance cost efficiency with production continuity, preventing stockouts and overstock situations. Implement and monitor safety stock levels, reorder points, and lead times for critical materials. Customer Demand & Forecast Management Analyze customer demand forecasts from Hyundai, GM, Nissan, Ford, Stellantis, and other OEMs, adjusting material plans accordingly. Align material availability with Just-In-Time (JIT) and Just-In-Sequence (JIS) delivery requirements to meet customer expectations. Collaborate with customer service teams to manage order fluctuations and demand changes. Production Scheduling Support Work closely with the production planner to ensure material availability aligns with daily and weekly production plans. Address any material shortages or delays promptly to minimize production disruptions. Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to prioritize urgent material needs. Automated Warehouse & System Integration Utilize MRP systems to monitor and control material flow. Ensure proper integration of raw material planning with warehouse operations for efficient stock retrieval and usage. Continuously improve system accuracy, data integrity, and reporting mechanisms. Shelf-Life & Obsolete Material Control Monitor and manage shelf life of raw materials, especially paints, chemicals, and plastic resins, ensuring usage before expiration. Implement First-In-First-Out (FIFO) and First-Expire-First-Out (FEFO) inventory management strategies. Identify and proactively manage slow-moving or obsolete materials, working with production and purchasing teams to reduce excess stock and write-offs. Track inventory aging and stock days to optimize inventory turns and avoid material obsolescence. Cost Control & Waste Reduction Optimize material usage and procurement strategies to minimize scrap, waste, and excess inventory costs. Identify cost-saving opportunities in material planning and purchasing without compromising quality and production efficiency. Data Analysis & Reporting Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), such as on-time material availability, inventory turnover, and supplier performance. Monitor and report inventory aging, shelf-life utilization, and slow-moving stock trends to support decision-making. Prepare reports on material planning efficiency, forecast accuracy, and stock levels for management review. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with purchasing, production, quality, logistics, and customer service teams to ensure smooth material flow. Coordinate with Launch teams for new product introductions (NPI) and material changes. Qualifications: Education background: Bachelor's degree Working experience: 2-3 years in the same position or related.
