Job Description

Job Title : IBM MQ Administrator / Middleware Support Engineer. Job Type : Contract - C2C. Location : Remote. Experience Required : 4-10 years. Project Background : We are supporting a government agency's project involving Microsoft Dynamics 365 integrated with IBM MQ. The project went live in September 2023, has completed its 1-year warranty, and is now in the maintenance phase. The IBM MQ interface is critical to the system and requires a dedicated specialist for troubleshooting and high-availability setup. Key Responsibilities : - Investigate and resolve frequent IBM MQ channel down issues. - Implement a permanent fix beyond restarts, ensuring channel stability. - Enable and configure IBM MQ queue logging (details to be shared in a requirement document). - Extract and analyze MQ logs to identify root causes of issues and monitor MQ health. - Enable High Availability (HA) for IBM MQ. - Two MQ instances are already installed; HA configuration is pending. - Work with internal and external teams to ensure robust message queue operations. - Monitor and maintain performance, uptime, and reliability of the MQ interface. - Document all changes, fixes, and configurations as part of project compliance and audit requirements. Ideal Candidate Profile : Technical Skills : - 4-10 years of hands-on experience with IBM MQ in enterprise environments. - Strong knowledge of : MQ Channels, Queues, Queue Managers, Listeners. - Troubleshooting techniques for MQ channel disconnections and performance issues. - Log configuration (enabling, rotating, analyzing MQ logs). - High Availability (HA) setup - Multi-instance MQ or other clustering methods. - Good understanding of middleware system integration (preferably with MS Dynamics or similar). - Familiarity with Linux and Windows environments (as per your MQ host setup). - Experience with monitoring tools (e.g, IBM MQ Explorer, Prometheus, AppDynamics, etc.) is a plus. Soft Skills : - Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. - Effective communication with client and internal teams. - Able to work independently and take ownership of MQ-related issues. - Willingness to provide on-call support or off-hour fixes if required in critical situations. Preferred Background : - Previous experience in Govt.or Public Sector projects is a plus. - Experience in post-go-live support and maintenance. - Certifications in IBM MQ or Middleware technologies will be an advantage. Engagement Model : - Contract/Full-Time based on availability and suitability. - Immediate joiners or candidates with short notice preferred. (ref:hirist.tech)
