Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Linux Administrator to join our growing IT infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting Linux-based systems and ensuring high availability, performance, and security of the production and development environments. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work on mission-critical systems in a fast-paced tech environment. Key Responsibilities : - Administer, monitor, and maintain Linux servers (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL, etc.) in cloud and on-premises environments. - Perform installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching of Linux systems. - Monitor system performance and availability using tools like Nagios, Zabbix, Grafana, or Prometheus. - Automate system tasks and deployments using shell scripting, Ansible, Puppet, or similar tools. - Manage user accounts, permissions, and backups, ensuring system security and compliance. - Configure and manage web servers (Apache, Nginx), application servers, databases, and firewalls. - Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking, and system issues quickly and effectively. - Implement disaster recovery solutions, manage data backups, and ensure data integrity. - Work closely with DevOps, security, and engineering teams to support CI/CD workflows and containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). - Stay current with emerging trends in Linux systems, security, and infrastructure automation. Required Skills & Qualifications : - Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). - 5 years of Strong experience in Linux system administration. - In-depth knowledge of Linux OS internals, command-line tools, filesystems, networking, and kernel parameters. - Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. - Proficiency in Bash scripting or Python for automation tasks. - Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Chef is a plus. - Solid understanding of networking protocols (DNS, HTTP, SSH, SMTP, etc.) and firewall management. - Familiarity with virtualization technologies (KVM, VMware) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). - Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills. - Ability to work independently and collaborate with distributed teams. - Good knowledge of RHCSA / RHCE. - Hands on experience in AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Experience in Linux by CompTIA (ref:hirist.tech)
