We currently have the following opportunity: Enhanced Pupil Support Assistant With British Sign Language - PKC12608 £17,509 - £19,056 (27.5 Hours per week, Term-time only) Newhill Primary School, Blairgowrie An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pupil Support Assistant who is fluent in British Sign Language to work in Perth and Kinross. The post holder will use their skills in signing and interpreting to ensure that all teaching is accessible to the child or young person. You will hold an appropriate British Sign Language qualification, or Degree in BSL (Interpreting, Translating and Applied Language Studies), as this role will require interpreting between the child and both the adults and other children in school. You will work under the direction of class teachers in providing any specific learning support required. The post holder will benefit from support and ongoing training as part of the Sensory Services Team (Hearing and Vision) in addition to being part of a successful school team. Skills & Experience Required You will have BSL qualification or Degree in British Sign Language (with Interpreting, Translating). You must be confident in using British Sign Language and have experience of interpreting for a BSL user. You should have experience of supporting children with additional support needs, including supporting deaf children or young people. You will support children's learning across both primary and secondary ages, therefore you must have good literacy and numeracy skills. With an understanding of school settings, you will be able to follow direction but should be willing to contribute creative ideas to support the delivery of learning to individual children. You will be sensitive to the needs of both children and the adults you are interpreting for, while respecting the confidentiality of pupils and staff.
