In this exciting and key leadership role you will lead the forestry and arboriculture teams providing both day to day management whilst also developing the strategic direction and leading on key projects. You will ensure that resources are prioritised to achieve key outcomes and that high quality professional services are delivered. You will play a key role in achieving corporate aims and objectives and contribute to working groups and wider Council plans ensuring your teams are aligned to support these. You will ensure that the Tree Risk Asset Management policy is implemented. You will You will review and develop the woodland operational plan, including leading our contribution to increased woodland cover for the Clyde Climate Forest. You will be responsible for promoting the use of woodland greenspaces to all sections of the community through your strong community engagement skills. With an HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, and ideally membership of an appropriate Professional Institute, you will have significant knowledge and experience in a within a relevant field including a experience in delivering projects and service priorities including the ability to achieve project milestones and targets. You will require experience of developing successful working relationships with contractors or professional service providers and in contract management. You will have experience in planning, tracking, and communicating progress on projects including experience of risk identification, assessment and management. Experience of cost control, budget monitoring and reporting is also essential. You will be business and customer focused with experience of managing and leading a team. You will be self-motivated with a flexible and collaborative approach to work and have the ability to cope with multiple and changing demands whilst meeting tight deadlines. You will also have a sound understanding and knowledge of legislation and initiatives within the relevant disciplines and ensure that all activities comply with legislation and codes of practice. As the subject matter expert you will provide guidance to the community and others on tree related matters. With excellent organisational and IT skills, you will be able to utilise various Microsoft Office packages, and be a clear written and verbal communicator, with the ability to analyse information and produce reports and with experience of presenting information in public forums You must be able to travel throughout North Lanarkshire and also outwith this area to undertake the duties of this post.
