Job Description

Interim UK Legal Counsel - Renewable Energy Contract - Minimum 3 months | Day Rate: Negotiable Edinburgh (Remote/Hybrid working) A leading renewable energy business is seeking an experienced UK Legal Counsel to support its growing UK portfolio and contribute to strategic legal initiatives across Europe. Key Responsibilities: Advise on the development, construction and operation of UK-based renewable energy projects. Navigate permitting, regulatory approvals, and environmental consents in both England and Scotland. Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of project and commercial agreements (leases, EPC, O&M, grid connection, joint ventures, etc.). Support M&A and financing transactions, including due diligence and stakeholder liaison. Guide compliance with UK energy regulations, planning policies, and land-use laws. Manage legal risk and external counsel, ensuring delivery of high-quality legal services. Contribute to internal legal frameworks, document management, and governance solutions. Candidate Profile: UK-qualified solicitor (England & Wales or Scotland) with 5 years PQE. Background in planning, real estate, construction or energy law, ideally with renewable sector exposure. Experienced in land agreements and working with UK authorities or regulatory bodies. Strong contract drafting skills and ability to manage complex commercial negotiations. Comfortable working independently across multiple high-value projects. Offer: Negotiable day rate, depending on experience. Flexible working arrangements - hybrid with occasional travel to Edinburgh.
