Commercial Director

We are partnering with a well-established residential developer to recruit a Commercial Director to lead their Building Safety Division on a contract basis . Based in Essex , this high-impact role will see you take charge of a team of 12 Quantity Surveyors of varying experience levels, driving performance, accountability, and delivery across commercial operations. Key Responsibilities: Provide strategic oversight of all commercial functions within the Building Safety Division. Lead and mentor a team of 12 Quantity Surveyors, ensuring effective management of cost, contracts, and commercial risk. Manage and advise on complex claims and disputes across the supply chain. Collaborate closely with technical, legal, and operational teams to uphold safety and regulatory compliance. Drive cost-efficiency, performance metrics, and continuous improvement across the department. Ideal Candidate: Proven experience as a Commercial Director within the contracting sector —preferably with exposure to residential projects. Strong understanding of claims, disputes, and supply chain management . A resilient, dynamic, and delivery-focused individual who thrives in a fast-paced, high-responsibility environment. Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
