Job Description
We are an independent Educational Psychology service specialising in psychological assessment, intervention and training for 200 schools. We are a small friendly team, well regarded across Lincolnshire for providing excellent services to schools. This post would be ideal for someone hoping to develop a range of experience and skills in preparation for training as an Educational Psychologist. The Role Deliver evidence based and bespoke psychological interventions to individuals and small groups of young people, ranging from aged 4-16, in the areas of literacy, numeracy, anxiety, social and emotional understanding, attention and concentration and sensory needs. Complete assessments, observations and screeners with young people and supporting adults to measure the impact of delivered interventions and record results in formal written impact reports. Work collaboratively with staff to personalise interventions and feedback and share experiences around what works during your interventions, to support generalisation of good practice across the school organisation. Use a coaching model to share your understanding of behavioural presentations in school from a psychological perspective and support staff in meeting a range of special educational needs through implementing evidence based interventions and strategies as part of their graduated approach. Complete standardised assessments of sensory needs for individual pupils and provide a comprehensive written report of findings to school and parents/carers. Support Educational Psychologists to deliver training to school staff. Responsibilities Work with Educational Psychologists to develop the content of bespoke interventions, drawing on psychological principles. Work directly with school staff, parents and pupils to implement psychological interventions and advice. Provide support to Educational Psychologists to deliver training workshops. To take part in meetings within the Educational Psychology service. Develop skills and knowledge through participation in the process of supervision, and being supervised by colleagues and line managers. Keep accurate and retrievable records of work and provide written feedback as required. Qualifications and Qualities At least a 2:1 Honours Degree in Psychology providing a graduate basis for registration with the British Psychological Society. Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly confidence in building rapport quickly and establishing trusting relationships with children/young people and school staff. Ability to think flexibly and responsively to unexpected situations that may arise in schools and adapt intervention delivery in response to ensure best outcomes for the young person. Experience working with children, young people and parents, for example, experience of teaching, youth work, mentoring or mental health support. Preference for this experience to be working with children/young people in a school setting. Understanding of the school system and Special Educational Needs Code of Practice. Driving licence and car essential Package Details £21,000-£22,000 salary (actual) for 44 week contract plus mileage payments. Assistant Psychologist induction programme in August and September as well as additional training and CPD throughout the year.
