We currently have the following opportunity: Care Assistant / Domestic (Fixed Term for 12 Months) - PKC12598 £18,822 - £19,835 (27 Hours per week) £13.37 - £14,09 per Hour Gleneagles Day Opportunities - Learning Disability Day Services, Gleneagles Road Adult Resource Centre, Perth We are looking for these hours to be worked across 4 days. Our Service is open Monday to Thursday 08:45-16:00 & Friday 08:45-15:45. Due to specific service delivery requirements, this role requires a male staff member. Are you an enthusiastic and motivated individual who can work creatively to support individuals with learning disabilities to realise their full potential in their communities? If so, you may have the qualities we are looking for to become our new Care Assistant/Domestic within Gleneagles Day Opportunities! Due to high demand for our services, we are looking for a male care assistant to join our vibrant and positive team who provide Day Opportunities for Adults with learning disabilities. You will support and enable individuals to access and participate in a variety of group activities within community and specialist building based settings to work towards their identified outcomes. Skills & Experience Required Can you communicate effectively to build relationships with service users, families, colleagues and other internal/external agencies to ensure a quality care provision? If so: You may have experience of working with vulnerable adults who have learning and/or physical disabilities, autism spectrum conditions and other varied needs, but this is not essential as training and mentoring will be provided. You should have excellent communication skills which will enable you to communicate effectively with service users, their families, your colleagues and other internal and external agencies. It would desirable that you have some knowledge of alternative communication methods suitable to this setting. You will be required to support individuals with varied and complex needs including supporting stressed/distressed behaviours and intimate personal care needs. You should have good digital skills and be able to operate basic electronic recording systems. Do you have the ability to identify, manage and mitigate potential risks to self and others, by applying existing guidelines, seeking advice when required? If so: You should have an awareness of general workplace health and safety requirements. You may have to carry out handling and moving, CALM Physical intervention or First Aid tasks as a part of this role, and training will be provided. Do you have an understanding as to the Council’s Values and Behaviours as drivers as an organisation and as individuals, related to Ambition, Compassion, and Integrity? If so, you will be able to influence the way we work with each other as well as the people and communities we serve, by: Thinking “yes”, be creative, look to improve, and focus on positive outcomes. A full UK driving license and the ability to drive Perth and Kinross Council vehicles is essential for this post as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross. An SVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care or a higher/equivalent qualification with relevant work experience is desirable but not essential for this post.
