Job Description

This is an opportunity to kickstart your career by joining Canonical. You will be working from our Canonical London Office and will be responsible for delivering technical support to our employees and customers, as well as facilitating AV support for office conferences and events. From problem qualification to full resolution, you will own and manage your cases. When needed, you will transfer your cases to your colleagues or involve senior engineers. This role is ideal for a Linux Engineer/Administrator passionate about Linux and Customer Success, eager to build a career supporting Ubuntu and open source products. You will be responsible for providing outstanding technical support across the Desktop and Server stacks, managing your cases from start to finish, and collaborating with colleagues and senior engineers as needed. Your daily tasks include providing technical expertise, communicating effectively, prioritizing customer issues, and continuously learning about new products and technologies. You will participate in training sessions, team gatherings, and company events. Location: Office Based in London, England The role entails: Investigating customer-reported issues through research and escalation Resolving complex problems related to Canonical's products Owning support cases to meet SLAs and ensure high customer satisfaction Engaging with customers via phone, ticketing, and remote sessions Participating in a weekend support rotation Contributing to and maintaining knowledge base articles Understanding Ubuntu's development process to set accurate customer expectations What we are looking for: Excellent written and spoken English and presentation skills Strong academic record from high school and university Degree in a technical field or a compelling alternative narrative Proven ability to exceed expectations and achieve results Experience with Linux troubleshooting and integration (authentication, network file systems, etc.) Ability to analyze logs and stack traces effectively Understanding of OS and application bugs and escalation procedures Quick learner, adaptable, and able to handle customer-facing pressure Programming fundamentals in any language Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for up to two weeks Extensive customer support experience, with a focus on customer needs and professional communication What we offer: A distributed work environment with biannual team sprints USD 2,000 annual learning and development budget Annual compensation review and performance incentives Additional benefits aligned with our values and global fairness Opportunities for travel and personal growth About Canonical: Canonical is a pioneering open source tech company, publisher of Ubuntu, and leader in AI, IoT, and cloud platforms.
