Job Description

Position Overview: The X-Ray Technologist is a skilled healthcare professional responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures using X-ray equipment to capture high-quality images of a patient’s internal structures. The role involves preparing patients, ensuring their safety, positioning them accurately, and operating imaging equipment to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. The X-Ray Technologist must adhere to established protocols and safety standards to ensure accurate results and patient care. Key Responsibilities: Perform diagnostic X-ray examinations (e.g., chest X-rays, bone imaging, fluoroscopy) on patients as per the physician's orders. Position patients correctly to ensure the best possible image quality while maintaining their comfort and safety during the procedure. Operate X-ray machines and other imaging equipment in accordance with established protocols, patient safety standards, and departmental procedures. Ensure that all radiographic images are clear, properly exposed, and meet the diagnostic requirements for medical evaluation. Prepare and position patients for imaging, explaining the procedure, addressing any concerns, and ensuring patient cooperation throughout. Adhere to radiation safety practices by using the appropriate shielding and safety equipment to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self. Maintain accurate patient records, including medical histories, procedure details, and any special instructions or observations. Ensure proper handling, processing, and storage of images, both in digital and film formats, following legal and medical imaging guidelines. Assist physicians and radiologists with image review and clarification when necessary. Maintain a sterile and clean working environment, following infection control and safety protocols. Monitor and assess the condition of patients during imaging procedures, notifying medical staff of any changes in the patient’s condition. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot radiologic equipment, promptly reporting any malfunction or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel. Participate in continuous education and training, staying updated with advancements in imaging technologies, safety protocols, and healthcare regulations. Assist in educating patients about the importance of imaging procedures, ensuring they understand the benefits and risks.
