Job Description

Position Summary Circus World, the original 1884-1917 headquarters and winter home of the Ringling Brothers Circus, and now a 64-acre complex celebrating the circus arts. Visitors can experience a stupendous circus, under the Big Top Tent, with a ringmaster, aerialists, animals, jugglers, and clowns, and explore a vast collection of historic artifacts, including majestic circus wagons, vibrant costumes, posters and timeless circus memorabilia. Circus World features 30 permanent structures, seven National Historic Landmark winter quarter buildings, housing 260 vintage and restored antique wagons. Duties: * Install, and/or maintain outdoor furniture (i.e. benches, picnic tables, park and outdoor recreation equipment). * Assist in remodeling or improvement projects such as painting, staining. * Replace light bulbs. * Cleaning of performance venues after each show during performance season. * Site wide clean up and waste management (64 acres). * Daily operation of the historic carousel - guest interaction and service. * Historic Wagon movement, spotting and cleaning. * Clearing of paths, walkways and roads of debris, runoff and branches etc. * Geese waste removal. In addition to structural/architectural maintenance and repair work, positions may also perform similar duties to those below, but not for a majority of time: * Clean surfaces such as floors, walls, bathroom facilities, windows and furniture using proper cleaning/polishing solutions, brushes, cloths, squeegees and power equipment. * Perform grounds maintenance such as lawn mowing, leaf removal, landscaping. * Clean assigned portions of the headquarters building to ensure proper maintenance. * Serve as support to emergency janitorial duties (e.g. unexpected spills, leaks, or messes). * Assist in managing janitorial supplies and inventory. * Assist in the setting up of tables, lighting, etc. for meetings, programs, or events. * Other miscellaneous duties as assigned Salary Information Pay is $15.00 per hour with a weekend differential of 80 cents per hour. This classification is in schedule and class 03-08. Please note this is a Limited Term Employment position so it does not include paid time off or benefits upon hire. Job Details A criminal background check will be conducted by WHS prior to an offer of employment to determine if the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job. This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and limited to 1,039 hours. This seasonal position will average 40 hours per week. Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions. Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status. WHS does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States. Qualifications * Requires the ability to walk around a large site without effort. * Ability to lift objects at least 50lbs * Work is performed in historic structures lacking climate control and with direct exposure to outdoors and areas where animal allergens and insects might be found. * Working is performed in all weather conditions. * Work involves daily contact with the public, and may involve large groups of people, and facilitating experiences for guests facing challenges. * Paint skills * Moderate computer skills * Positive People Skills * General maintenance knowledge How To Apply Apply online!
