Job Name: Vessel Operations Engineer Job Type: Permanent Country: Italy City: Fano State: FL Languages: URL: Position: Vessel Operations Engineer Work location: Fano, Italy (Mobility to travel to all international locations for short business trips or missions). Work/leave rotation: 35/35 (35 paid working days followed by 35 unpaid leave days). Qualifications: Engineering English level: B2 - C1 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 3-5 Mission: Provide engineering reviews, address operation, advise (directly and indirectly) on best practices both in the tender and in the projects to the Project Operation Manager (or delegate) to assist in the achievement of project/tender objectives, according to the plan/procedures developed by the engineering project team. Tasks: The Engineer shall ensure compliance with QA/QC & HSE requirements and: Review project documentation reporting errors/omissions and suggest improvements considering advice from vessel operations management. Assist in liaising with Client Representatives/subcontractors. Assist in monitoring progress of work/site conditions and promptly advise if changes to project schedule/execution sequence may occur. Support Vessel Management Team onboard in planning/execution of work/project contractual & technical requirements. Participate in resolving technical problems. Supervise execution of diving, pre-commissioning, post-trenching, and hook-up activities. Provide operational input/support to onshore project teams. Liaise with Installation Engineers during preparatory/mobilisation/installation phases. Review installation procedures/loadout/seafastening plans for offshore transportation to ensure safe/timely installation. Ensure completeness of construction materials/consumables lists liaising with Project Coordinator for procurement/delivery. Coordinate with Mobile Equipment, Asset, Piptech, ROV, Trenching, pre-commissioning, Hook-up teams to ensure timely availability of personnel/equipment. Witness/inspect pre-rigging/loadouts/seafastening activities. Identify deviations from procedures and manage as requested. Coordinate with Fabrication Department for loadout of structures/installation aids. Contribute to engineering close-out reports to improve standards and methods. Lead project planning efficiency initiatives. Participate in project HAZIDs/HIRAs and task tracking. Verify schedule consistency with vessel productivity. Assist in managing third-party contractors ensuring contractual and technical compliance. Provide technical assistance to offshore personnel to ensure work complies with procedures and standards. Deliver technical briefings to offshore personnel to promote safety and procedures. Assist in vessel mobilisation/demobilisation ensuring safety and operational awareness. Document contractual variations to support claims and manage as needed. IT Skills: Skilled in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project Soft Skills: A strong work ethic, adaptability to change, meeting deadlines, high-quality outcomes, coordination across functions. Nice to Have: Extensive offshore experience onboard pipelay/construction vessels (Field Engineer or similar). Knowledge of subsea construction, onshore fabrication. Commitment to HSE and safety promotion. Experience working in multi-location teams. Good understanding of Saipem products, activities, and assets.
