Job Description Job Description Overview Amerit Fleet Solutions , one of the leading fleet maintenance companies in the US, is looking to hire a skilled Material Handling Equipment Technician! The Mechanic is responsible for timely repair and maintenance of light - heavy duty fleet vehicles, trailers, and various equipment to ensure a safe and efficient operation. This position is multi function. The majority of the work will be on Forklifts, Crown stand up lifts, and Big Joe walk behind lifts. Strong knowledge of the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of these three types of units. The mechanic position also requires a high level of proficiency and working knowledge related to diesel engine diagnostics, brakes, tires, AC, and PM services. Please note, this is a site launch. Strong knowledge of the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of these three types of units. Perform repairs and preventative maintenance to a fleet of light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty trucks. The fleet also includes CAT equipment, generators, aerials, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment. Perform services and repairs to diesel engines, brakes, tires, AC, and regular PM services are required. Prepare vehicle records and report both manually and on a computer Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation required Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures Inspect and perform work on the under parts of vehicles Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance Move parts to and from the job site and remove or install these parts on vehicles Interact with clients through both email and phone as necessary Perform other duties as required Key Competencies and Minimum Education At least 5 years’ experience performing vehicle maintenance or must possess auto or diesel technology diploma from an accredited technical school Experience servicing and repairing CAT equipment, generators, aerials, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment – highly desired Experience with Peterbilt, Kenworth, Ford, Chevy Linde, Hyster assets preferred ASE Certifications preferred Commercial Driver’s License Class - A (Preferred) Must be able to operate a manual transmission vehicle to determine if operating properly Must provide own hand tools & toolbox. Knowledge of handheld scan tools and the process of diagnosing vehicles. Ability to read schematics and familiar with process Proficient computer skills: knowledge of Excel, Word, Fleet Management Systems, and Email Strong written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.) Working Conditions Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job. Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, diesel fumes and noise. Exposure to chemicals, oils, greases or other irritants Access any area of the equipment or vehicle to perform necessary maintenance Ability to move and position heavy objects. Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and crawl to repair vehicles Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
