Job Description

YOUR JOB Acquire, assess, underwrite, quote and negotiate proportional and non-proportional Casualty Treaty business in the Sub Saharan African markets directly and through brokers Provide tailor made solutions and ensure a profitable portfolio Check contract wordings and conditions according to MR underwriting guidelines Cultivate relationships with cedants and brokers for business development purposes and exploit new business potential through these sources Conduct market and portfolio analyses, and prepare reports Negotiate with clients on product-related topics and other class-specific issues in liaison with client management Support actively in the execution of opinion leadership on selected class-specific topics (e.g. internal and external training sessions, seminars, workshops, specialist presentations, publications, interviews) YOUR PROFILE University degree in law-related discipline, mathematics/statistics, economics, or degree with a recognized governing body of insurance qualifications ( e.g. ACII/FCII) Minimum 5 years underwriting experience, in-depth knowledge of reinsurance and primary insurance in all Casualty classes of business (PA, Motor, and Liabilities) Very good level of pricing experience and know-how in wordings Sound analytical skills Good communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and willingness to share knowledge within the team High level of commitment and ability to work under pressure Solution-oriented with a proactive, efficient and independent work style Willingness to travel Fluent in English; French and/or Portuguese language skills would be highly desired
