Engineering Manager - Backend Architecture

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team of talented engineers. As an EM, you'll be responsible for team performance, people development, and driving the technical execution of projects. You'll work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to build scalable, reliable, and impactful products. The Opportunity : As the Engineering Manager, you will lead a talented and diverse team of backend engineers to design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance data solutions. You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end lifecycle of the engineering charter and work cross-functionally with product, business, and analytics teams to support data-driven decision-making and improve our engineering excellence in the ecosystem. In this role you will solve the problem of scale, engineering excellence, and champion the engineering excellence across the company. What you'll do day to day as an Engineering Manager. Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus. Experience & Technical Skills : - 9 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role. - Experience leading backend engineering teams, hiring, mentoring, and developing talent. - Expertise in designing and developing scalable, high-performance backend systems and microservices architecture. - Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, or Node.js. - Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). - Expertise in database technologies, including SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB). - Deep understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or AWS SNS/SQS). - Strong grasp of containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes). - Experience in implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices. - Knowledge of security best practices in backend engineering, including authentication and authorization frameworks (OAuth, JWT, SAML, etc.). - Understanding of observability and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, or Splunk). - Experience working in a cross-functional environment, collaborating with product, engineering, and business teams to deliver high-impact solutions. - Ability to design modules and lead initiatives independently with limited guidance. - Ability to handle ambiguity and navigate the fast-paced environment of a growing tech company. - Up-to-date knowledge of evolving technologies and the ability to guide the team toward evaluating and adopting cutting-edge technologies.
