Position Overview We are seeking a versatile, hands-on, and detail-oriented Weld Engineer to support the planning and execution of complex welding projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing welding procedures, optimizing robotic weld processes, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency are met across our production operations. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong sense of urgency, the ability to lead technical initiatives, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Conduct welder certification testing and maintain detailed documentation of results. Develop and maintain Welding Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs). Program and optimize robotic weld cells. Collaborate with Robotic Weld Technicians to improve weld quality, reduce cycle times, and increase throughput. Identify opportunities to automate manual weld processes using robotic technology. Train personnel on welding procedures and best practices. Coordinate the design and fabrication of tooling and fixtures. Support and drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles. Prepare and present routine reports and metrics to senior management. Ensure compliance with all internal policies and external regulations, including OHSA, IATF, and ISO 14001. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements 2-year Welding Technology Associate Degree or 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Welding Technology/Engineering. Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a fabrication manufacturing environment. One or more of the following certifications: CW – Certified Welder. CWI – Certified Welding Inspector. CWE – Certified Welding Educator. CW Eng – Certified Welding Engineer. AWS or CWB certification required. Strong technical knowledge of GMAW and GTAW welding processes. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, operating manuals, and technical procedures. Experience working with robotic welding systems. Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-complexity environment while maintaining professionalism and quality standards.
