Control Systems Engineer (ID5023)

New Value Solutions is seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to design, integrate, and commission building automation and security systems with a focus on BACnet-based integration between Access Control Systems (ACS) and Building Management Systems (BMS) . This role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless system interoperability, enhancing building intelligence, efficiency, and occupant security. This is a contract role and travel will be required. Key Responsibilities: Design and implement integration solutions between ACS and BMS using BACnet, Modbus, or similar protocols. Configure, program, and troubleshoot building automation systems (HVAC, lighting, etc.) and security systems (card readers, door controllers). Interpret and develop control logic and communication mappings for BACnet devices and systems. Participate in system commissioning, functional testing, and validation on site and remotely. Collaborate with project managers, electrical contractors, and vendors to coordinate installation and configuration. Develop and maintain integration documentation, network schematics, and configuration backups. Provide technical support for post-installation issues, diagnostics, and remote monitoring. Stay updated on industry standards (e.g., BACnet, ASHRAE, NFPA, IT network security for OT environments). Qualifications: Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field. 3 years of experience with BMS/BAS, access control systems, or control system integration. Hands-on experience with BACnet protocol and tools (e.g., Yabe, BACnet Explorer, Wireshark for BACnet/IP). Experience working with major BMS platforms (e.g., Tridium, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell) and ACS platforms (e.g., Lenel, Genetec, HID). Ability to read electrical schematics and control wiring diagrams. Familiarity with network topology, VLANs, IP addressing, and firewall configurations relevant to OT systems. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Experience with other protocols (Modbus, KNX, OPC UA, MQTT). Experience with SCADA or PLC systems. Cybersecurity awareness for operational technology (OT) environments. Certifications such as BACnet International , Tridium Niagara , or Lenel Certified Professional .
